The original partition will keep its old file system, but you will need to format the newly created partition in order to start storing files on it. The Windows installer will format it to the correct file system. Give the new partition a name so that you can easily identify what's on it.

Apply your changes. Click the Apply button, and then click Partition to accept your changes and create the new partition.
